Our Vision for a Europe of Doers
We are not talking about dry treaties or bureaucratic hurdles here. When we speak of Europe, we mean a vibrant powerhouse of ideas and courage. Our vision is a continent that does not merely manage its diversity but celebrates it as its greatest competitive advantage. We stand for a liberal Europe that trusts people to think big.
We want to see a Europe of strength and commitment. For us, this means that every person has the freedom to reach their full potential, whether in a start-up in Berlin, a craft business in Lisbon, or a coworking space in Warsaw.
European identity is a highly valued asset to us that extends far beyond national borders. We love the regional culture and lived diversity that make our continent so unique. Europe is constantly growing, and that is precisely our opportunity. We observe very different stages of liberal development. Our goal is to elevate our understanding of freedom and equality to a shared, high level. We want to build bridges strong enough to carry the exchange of values and visions between all parts of the continent. We are looking for the doers and companies who have understood that a united Europe is the best breeding ground for success.
Individual Freedom as the Highest Principle
The core of our philosophy is as simple as it is powerful: individual freedom comes first. Every person should be able to shape their life on their own responsibility and decide for themselves what is right or wrong for them. This is the ultimate expression of self-determination. We do not believe in paternalism, but in trusting the judgment of the individual. Our unwavering principle is that my limit lies exactly where your boundary begins, and vice versa. It is a dance on equal footing, where mutual respect guides the rhythm.
Even if one might not choose the path of another person for oneself, it must be respected and accepted without any restriction. That is the true test of a liberal society. We love discussions and the vigorous exchange of arguments. We think it is important for people to argue passionately for their ideas. But this exchange must always be characterized by appreciation. Insults or hate have no place in our understanding of freedom. Those who degrade others have not understood the concept of freedom. We wish this deep, mutual respect for all of Europe, from the smallest community to the grandest metropolis.
Cultural Heritage as the Foundation of Unity
Regional identity and European unity are not opposites to us. On the contrary, they complement each other perfectly. We stand for a Europe of diverse regions that are proud of their cultural heritage. A Europe that honors and cultivates local traditions provides the very security needed to open up to the new. When we know where we come from, we can make bolder decisions about where we want to go. We see ourselves as architects building bridges between these cultures.
In an increasingly complex world, our roots give us the necessary stability. But we do not use these roots to isolate ourselves, but to grow further. We want local uniqueness to shine in a large, European framework. Every region brings its own color to the overall picture. The goal of BeBold is to promote this exchange and show that one can be a proud local patriot and a committed European at the same time. It is about a togetherness that celebrates differences instead of ironing them out.
Freedom through Diversity: Our Roots and Our Future
Since 1978, the rainbow flag has flown as an unmistakable symbol of diversity and pride. For us, this symbol is far more than just decoration. Our roots and our deepest understanding lie in the hard-fought experiences of gay, lesbian, and bi individuals. The historical context of the gay movement is of fundamental importance to us. We know exactly where we come from and what battles had to be fought to allow us the life we can lead today. This history is our compass. It reminds us that freedom is never a given; it must constantly be lived anew and made visible.
Today, the entire queer community is incredibly multi-layered and colorful. Yet what permanently unites us all is our uncompromising commitment to our shared liberal goals. Diversity is not just a marketing buzzword for us. It is the absolute prerequisite for true freedom. Whoever protects diversity automatically protects the right of every single individual to shape their life according to their own vision. When we defend diversity, we defend the right to uniqueness for all people.
BeBold: Creating Visibility and Building Networks
With BeBold, we actively bring this strong community into business and society. We are not here to make political demands. We are here to make visible what is already there. We show the strength, creativity, and innovative capacity of our community. As an initiative with strong roots in Southern Germany, we have been part of both large and small campaigns for years and proactively launch our own event formats. Munich Pride (CSD München) – our home turf – has always been a central pillar in our efforts to create visibility for our cause. At the same time, we advise companies that have recognized that an open and diverse corporate culture is not a luxury, but a genuine success factor. We support companies in creating an environment where every employee feels safe and valued.
Our work often takes place directly on the ground, serving in an advisory capacity for organizations and events. We seek contact with the doers, the visionaries, and the entrepreneurs who are ready to take responsibility. We want to build a network that endures across industries and national borders. BeBold is the platform for all who boldly want to lead the way. We are demanding in our expectation of quality and unmistakable in our presence. We believe in the power of role models.
